The Nobel Prize originated in the will of Alfred Nobel, a Swedish industrialist and inventor best known for dynamite. In 1895, he decided to bequeath his fortune to reward those who bring "the greatest benefit to humanity" in several fields: physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace.
The first prizes were awarded in 1901, after the creation of the Nobel Foundation, which is responsible for carrying out Alfred Nobel’s last wishes. Since then, these awards have become some of the most prestigious in the world, symbolising scientific, cultural and humanitarian excellence.
Nearly 1,000 individuals and 28 organisations have won the Nobel Prize. Among them are some famous celebrities, including the four presented below, who are very well known. Can you identify them?
