Good news for Delcampe members: certain fees applied to international transactions are set to fall significantly.
This change applies to two situations:
- purchases made by private individuals within the European Union from professional sellers based outside the European Union, for parcels with a maximum value of €150;
- purchases made by private individuals in the United Kingdom from professional sellers based outside the United Kingdom, for parcels with a maximum value of £135.
Since the new customs rules came into force, Delcampe has been in ongoing discussions with the relevant authorities to clarify how they are applied and to minimise their impact on its members as much as possible.
The latest clarifications we have received now enable us to significantly reduce these charges.
Previously
a flat-rate fee of €25 per transaction concerned
From 9 October 2026 at the latest
5% of the transaction amount, with a minimum of €5
For example:
- for a transaction of €50: a fee of €5;
- for a transaction of €100: a fee of €5;
- for a transaction of €150: a fee of €7.50.
Why were these fees introduced?
When the new European regulations came into force on 1 July 2026, several practical details still needed to be clarified.
Pending full clarification from the customs authorities, Delcampe had to introduce a flat-rate fee of €25 to cover the various costs likely to be associated with processing these transactions.
Our teams have since continued their efforts and discussions with customs.
The clarifications we have received now enable us to refine this mechanism and significantly reduce its cost, with the fees charged by Delcampe now limited to the administrative costs we are required to bear.
For the professional sellers concerned
Customs obligations remain in force.
For shipments to the European Union, professional sellers based outside the EU who sell to private individuals must continue to provide the IM number supplied by Delcampe, as well as the information required for customs formalities: quantities, product references and CN codes.
For shipments to the United Kingdom, professional sellers based outside the UK must continue to provide the UK VAT number provided by Delcampe for parcels worth up to £135 sent to UK private buyers.
Haven’t paid yet?
If your transaction is affected and payment has not yet been finalised, please wait until 9 October 2026.
The payment request will be automatically updated with the new amount.
We are pleased that the clarifications we have received now enable us to significantly reduce these charges for our members.
Our aim remains the same: to make transactions between collectors as straightforward as possible, whilst adapting to new regulatory requirements and minimising their impact wherever possible.
Thank you for your trust and loyalty.
We wish you every success with your transactions on Delcampe.
What about shipments to the US from Europe and the Middle East?
For shipments to the United Kingdom, professional sellers based outside the UK must continue to provide the UK VAT number provided by Delcampe for parcels worth up to £135 sent to UK private buyers.
SO – what is the VAT on say £100?
Great news. Many thanks for all of your hard work.
Thank you for the update. Following the introduction of your €25 charge on transactions, even those within the UK I have not even bothered to open the Delcampe site to view.
Even now I am reluctant to recompense any dealings through your site, as I refuse to spend €5 fees on a transaction, especially one totally within the UK.
I wonder how many other customers you have lost?
Regards,
Tony Moore
Thank you!
Yes, hi everyone @ DelCampe, my question is.. so someone like myself will still be charged €25. if buying from a seller in Europe? Also if I sell something to a buyer in Europe as well? I actually just bought from an auction house in Germany last werk & when I got my invoice there was a €25. Customs fee on there.. I buy all the time from sellers in Europe & never was charged this ridiculous fee, on top of the crazy amount for shipping a registered envelope! (€39. I was charged for shipping registered.) These fees are only gonna make people not want to buy or sell from the States to Europe & vice-versa..
Hello,
Everyone is free to set their own fees. On Delcampe, we initially charged €25 as this was standard practice. Since then, our discussions with the Belgian customs authorities have enabled us to reduce this fee significantly (to 5 per cent of the transaction amount, with a minimum of €5). This is the amount you will be charged from 9 October.
Kind regards,
Héloïse
How does this effect buyer’s in USA with sellers in EU? Import fees still apply?
Hello,
It’s about import, not export. I don’t think you are concerned by this.
Best regards,
Héloïse
What is IM number from following text
For shipments to the European Union, professional sellers based outside the EU who sell to private individuals must continue to provide the IM number supplied by Delcampe, as well as the information required for customs formalities: quantities, product references and CN codes.
Hello,
If you are a professional seller, this number will be found on your invoices.
Best regards,
Héloïse
I don’t think I will buy from delcampe again. Since the platform fee is introduced, and now there is new EU custom tax, buying small items are so much expensive now
The increase to Eu 25 was not made clear to buyers and only appeared after the item was purchased. I think imposing the fee is legally and morally questionable. Ebay did not make the same increase but they will also have faced the same issue with the tax authorities
Hello,
It depends on where eBay’s head office is based in Europe. As we have indicated, we had to deal with the Belgian authorities and only received the guidelines after the law had come into force in Europe.
The €25 charge was applied in good faith as this was the framework for implementing the law at the time, without the specific customs details. Having received these details in the meantime, we have reduced these import-related charges to bring them into line with reality.
Kind regards
Héloïse
