The Falkland Islands Philatelic Study Group celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, marked by a set of stamps issued by the Falkland Islands. An anniversary display to the members of the Royal Philatelic Society London could not be held that year, another casualty of Covid, but did take place on 26 October 2023.
Eighteen members of the Group presented a total of 30 displays ranging from early mail through to a look at the 50th anniversary set of stamps issued on 7 September 2020.
President of the Royal, Michael Roberts FRPSL, gave the Vote of Thanks, in which he paid particular tribute to three of those giving displays. First was Malcolm Barton whose idea led to the formation of the Study Group in 1970. Second was Kim Stuckey FRPSL, who had co-ordinated the displays, bringing together a varied and fascinating selection of material. Finally, it was thanks to Stefan Heijtz FRPSL who, in the 1980s, first compiled a specialist catalogue of Falkland Islands embracing stamps, covers and ephemera, all priced.
All who had displayed were presented with a Certificate by which to remember to occasion.
