Six members of ‘The Finnish Group’ of the Royal Philatelic Society London displayed ‘Finnish philately up to 1930’ to members at the meeting held on 12 March. The material shown covered: the earliest forms of mail delivery in Finland, by Dr Atte Moilanen; the serpentine rouletted revenues of Finland, by Jukka Mäkinen FRPSL; Finland Coat of Arms type of 1875, by Jussi Murtosaari FRPSL; Finnish Eagle issues, by Pauli Salminen; Finland in 1918, by Ari Muhonen FRPSL; The Saarinen Definitive issue, by Pekka Rannikko.
Giving the Vote of Thanks, Chris King RDP, Hon FRPSL stated that the Society had enjoyed a ‘remarkable assembly of material’. He gave particular thanks to all who had shown for coming to London at their own expense, and having to deal with Customs formalities.
President of the Society, Simon Richards RDP, FRPSL added his own thanks, saying that it had been ‘wonderful to put on this display of splendid material from a classic country’. He went on to present each of the exhibitors with a Certificate of Appreciation, in addition giving the Society’s plaquette to its representative in Finland, Ari Muhonen.
