The renowned international auctioneer, David Feldman RDP(I), FRPSL, was born in Ireland, so it is not surprising that his passion is ‘The Emerald Collection’ that he has assembled of Imperforate Classics of the World in Green. It was this collection that astounded over 100 members of the Royal Philatelic Society London when displayed on 11 December 2025.
Every page shown featured spectacular items, described by Simon Martin-Redman FRPSL, Vice President of the Society, giving the Vote of Thanks, as an ‘extraordinary assembly’ that was ‘visually stunning’, providing ‘a most wonderful occasion’, albeit every item had been viewed with ‘a touch of envy’. In a heart-felt reply, David said it had been an honour to be invited to display at the Royal, and to have the opportunity to bring all the collection together, and show it not burdened by the rules and regulations of competitions.
Asked what is his favourite item in the collection, David replied that he feels a connection with so many of the items but, ‘when I find something new, it becomes a darling’.
Simon Richards RDP, FRPSL, President of the Royal Philatelic Society London, presented David with the Society’s plaquette and Certificate of Appreciation, adding that it had been an absolute delight to see this astounding collection.
