Born on 4 November 1861 in Karlshöfen, East Prussia, she studied applied arts in Berlin before becoming an illustrator for the magazine Rosen Zeitung (the rose magazine). Roses were a recurring motif in her illustrations.


Talented, she exhibited in several major German cities and even had Kaiser Wilhelm as a client. !
Working with a skilful blend of gouache and watercolour, his drawings are also used for postcards and calendars . His work became known throughout Europe and is still very popular with collectors.
After passing on her passion through her workshop for young women, Catharina Klein died on 30 November 1929 in Berlin.
