The Peanuts gang are group of unique characters created for the comic strip of the same name by Charles M. Schulz in 1950. For 50 years, Schulz wrote and drew daily the adventures of “Good ol’Charlie Brown“, philosophical Linus and his crabby big sister Lucy, piano-playing Schroeder, attention-grabbing Sally, Peppermint Patty and Marcie, not to mention the beagle Snoopy and his friend Woodstock. Peanuts owes its success to the subtle personalities of its characters, whose encounters continually produced a comic effect.

The worldwide success of the comic strip, translated into no fewer than 45 languages, has made its most emblematic character, Snoopy, an icon of popular culture.

In 2025, to mark the 75th anniversary of Peanuts, Monnaie de Paris celebrates the famous gang of friends. Snoopy is the main character of the collection and decides to cross the Atlantic ocean to travel to France for his birthday.

Snoopy coins

Snoopy is Charlie Brown’s dog and the neighbourhood favourite. Far from being an ordinary beagle, Snoopy loves to read and write books. He’s also a connoisseur of the arts. His overflowing imagination allows him to have extraordinary adventures, all the while staying in his garden near his doghouse. He sometimes sees himself as a World War I aeroplane pilot, as Joe Cool, the king of the campus, or as a world-famous author.
Snoopy doesn’t speak, but he’s good at expressing his emotions. His varied moods, reactions and expressions are just some of the reasons why he’s such a touching and much-loved character.

These coins take the shape of one of Snoopy’s most iconic poses. The beagle smiles fondly as he hugs a heart. The number 75, referring to the anniversary celebrated in 2025, is engraved on the heart. For the first time, Monnaie de Paris is introducing a coloured coin with a red heart for the €10 silver proof coin.

On the reverse, against a background engraved with motifs of dog paw prints, Snoopy is nestled on one of the zeros of the face value of each coin and looks at his friend Woodstock perched on the R of the euro. There are also the words RF, the name Peanuts and the anniversary commemoration.
