« La Force Publique » of the Belgian – CongoMail & military censorship 1940-1945

Two main chapters make up this study; the first being “The ‘Force Publique’ in the Belgian Congo and in operations abroad” and the second “The military censorship marks of the Belgian Congo Public Force”.

In the first main chapter, we will review, via 8 sub-chapters, the postal history of the different military campaigns of the Belgian Congo Public Force. Some of these chapters have already appeared as articles in the bulletins of the free magazine “Les Congolâtres”. These have therefore been taken up and updated.

The second main chapter will deal with the military censorship marks, classified by office (7 places in total). This main chapter will be based on the same approach (with a few modifications) as the book we produced “Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi – Civil Censorship 1940-1945” published in 2016. This book will be indispensable for you to obtain an overall vision of the civil and military censorship in the Belgian Congo.

This book is divided into two main chapters: the first describes the postal history of the Congo Public Force during the Second World War (operations abroad and inside the Belgian Congo) and the second covers all the different military censorship marks known to date. This large chapter on censorship is based on the same approach as the one we published in 2016, “Belgian Congo et Ruanda-Urundi – civil censorship 1940-1945”, which we recommend you read in order to gain an overview of civil and military censorship in the Belgian Congo.
