Unveiled for the first time as part of the “Gold of France” numismatic trilogy, the Napoleon III franc is making a grand comeback at the heart of a luxurious and limited -edition series.
A reinterpretation of the Napoleonic franc engraved by Jean -Jacques BARRE, these coins feature a laureate portrait of Emperor Napoleon III on the obverse.
His profile was strongly inspired by that of his uncle Napoleon I, who himself built his image on the inspiration of the Roman emperor Julius Caesar. To the right of his profile is the Napoleonic coat of arms, originally featured on the reverse of imperial coins.
These coins are minted in proof quality with tools featuring a “reverse” polish, which highlights the portrait of
Napoleon III. The three collector coins are presented in a lacquered wooden case in “fractional” order, from the smallest denomination to the largest . With only 400 copies of each produced, these pure gold collector coins are true works of art, directly inspired by the historical expertise of the Monnaie de Paris .
