On October 9th, the world's post services are being honoured! On this occasion, your Delcampe website has been decorated.
Since time immemorial, messages and later letters have been sent from one place to another. Postal history goes back to well before the introduction of stamps in 1840. From the messenger on foot to the postman on bicycle and the courier on horseback, the post system has used many means to get messages across.
The date of 9 October refers to 9 October 1874, the date of the founding of the Universal Postal Union, a global institution whose aim is the development and cooperation of the world’s postal systems.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members, philatelists and postal history enthusiasts, all the best!
