No fewer than 146 members, Fellows and guests came to the meeting of the Royal Philatelic Society London on 12 February when the displays were presented by members of the Society of Postal Historians (SPH), celebrating the 75th anniversary of its founding. As Simon Richards RDP, FRPSL, President of the ‘Royal’, commented, it had been ‘tremendous to see so many participating, with 53 individual displays’. The 53 members of the SPH who displayed each filled one frame, resulting in an exceptional variety of material to be enjoyed. This was a record number of displayers on one day at the ‘Royal’.

Giving the Vote of Thanks, John Stimson FRPSL, said that it had been ‘a real privilege to see such valuable insights into postal history research, covering a period of over 530 years, from 1419 to 1955’. Chairman of the SPH, James Grimwood-Taylor RDP, FRPSL, added his own thanks to Rob May FRPSL who had brought all the displays together, and to Max Smith, who had produced a brochure providing information about each of the displays.

Each contributor was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Simon Richards, who also presented the Society’s plaquette to Stephen Parkin FRPSL, President of the SPH, who thanked the ‘Royal’ for the opportunity to mark the anniversary and all those who had participated.
