Probably the most comprehensive study of Rhodesia 1890-1924: The Postal History and Stamps of the British South Africa Company, was shown to the members of the Royal Philatelic Society London on 20 February.
Presenting the display was Colin Hoffman RDPSA, FRPSL, covering the period from the Occupation of Mashonaland in 1890 to a study of the Admirals issue. Throughout the quality of the material was superb, clearly thoroughly researched and outstandingly presented.
Giving the vote of thanks, Michael Roberts FRPSL congratulated Colin on his ‘fantastic’ display, with ‘superb material and superb presentation’ that embraced not only the postal history and stamps, including hand-painted designs, proofs and errors, but also revenues and ephemera. He added that it had been a ‘truly memorable display of the highest quality’.
Richard Stock FRPSL, President of the Royal Philatelic Society London, adding his own praise, presenting Colin with the Society’s 150th Anniversary Medal and certificate.
