The World Money Fair is the leading international trade fair for numismatics and attracts up to 13,000 visitors to the Estrel Congress Centre (ECC) in Berlin every year. Visitors can look forward to a number of innovations at the upcoming fair.

An absolute highlight of the World Money Fair 2025 is the Minting Experience Centre in Convention Hall 2. Hands-on medal minting: Visitors can make their own limited-edition souvenir in six steps during the world’s largest coin fair.

‘We want to give our guests a ‘hands-on’ insight into the fascination of minting coins and medals,’ says Goetz-Ulf Jungmichel, Managing Director of the World Money Fair, who developed this idea together with the participating machine manufacturers and suppliers to the coin industry.

The medal minting will start at the Welcome Desk, where interested parties will receive a blank (round) from Royal Blanking International – a copper-nickel alloy with a diameter of 38.4 mm and a thickness of 2.75 mm. The edge is already slightly compressed and awaits the next steps.

The motif #theplacetobe is embossed onto the edge by embossing an edge lettering on the Schuler machine – a unique touch that makes the medal unmistakable. The medal is then carefully cleaned in the Spaleck machine to create a perfect basis for the subsequent minting and printing processes.

The heart of the Minting Experience Centre is the production area: the medal is embossed from both sides on a machine from Sack & Kiesselbach Maschinenfabrik GmbH with a force of 185 tonnes, transforming the blank into a genuine collector’s medal. At the fifth station of Teca-Print AG, the medal is given a further individual accent: the colour red is applied to a striking detail of the medal using the pad printing process. The Minting Experience Centre is rounded off by Acsys Lasertechnik GmbH, which adds a personal touch to the medal with a laser-engraved 4-digit serial number, making the medal a unique limited edition.

The new ticket and admission system increases security for guests and exhibitors at the World Money Fair: Personalised tickets and electronic access controls

The personalisation of tickets is now standard at many events. Visitors must enter their personal details when purchasing tickets. First name, surname and company (only for trade visitors) are recorded. Tickets can be purchased online on the World Money Fair website from €17.00.

The purchase process consists of several stages:

  • Purchase and order of the ticket(s)
  • Personalisation of the purchased order – it is also possible to buy tickets for several people
  • Download the tickets as a Print@Home ticket or in the smartphone wallet

Tickets can be purchased online until the last day of the trade fair Tickets can also be purchased on site at the box office in the Estrel lobby, albeit at higher prices. Tickets on site start at €22.

The ticket purchase on site works as follows:

  • Purchase:
    • One or more tickets are purchased at the ticket office and the buyer receives a receipt with a QR code
  • Personalisation:
    • The QR code is scanned with their own smartphone or with tablets provided at the personalisation station and the first name, surname and company details (only for trade visitors) are entered.
  • The ticket can now be used as a wallet ticket on your own smartphone or printed out as a badge at one of the printers.

‘Tickets purchased online significantly reduce waiting times,’ says Goetz-Ulf-Jungmichel, Managing Director of the World Money Fair. ‘The electronic controls also prevent people from entering without a valid ticket.’

Controlled access areas and trained security staff

Another key element of the new admission system is that visitors can only access the exhibition areas through defined entrances. Tickets will be scanned both on entry and each time they leave the exhibition area, so that the organisers can control the flow of visitors and know the number of people in the area at any given time.

The World Money Fair takes place from Thursday, 30 January to Saturday, 1 February 2025. Tickets are available here.
